Cancer research is not typically a patient-facing discipline, but in the new era of precision medicine, it is more important than ever to involve patients in our research and gain their perspective on the challenges we face.
We see patient engagement (communicating to patients or imparting information) and patient involvement (actively partnering with patients in developing research) as being on two ends of a spectrum. POI has an active programme of patient engagement activities, and we are working towards actively involving patients in our research.
